Health Department to Offer H1N1 FluMist Nasal Vaccine
To Re-Open H1N1 Vaccine Clinic at 7 a.m. on Monday, October 26

NASHVILLE, Tenn., October 23, 2009 -- Nearly 1,000 people visited the Metro Public Health Department's H1N1 flu vaccine clinic today seeking either H1N1 flu shots or H1N1 FluMist nasal vaccine. The Metro Public Health Department will re-open the clinic on Monday, October 26 with 670 doses of H1N1 FluMist. The Health Department's H1N1 flu vaccine clinic, located at the Lentz Health Center, 311 23rd Avenue North, will be open from 7 a.m. -- 4 p.m., and will offer the H1N1 FluMist nasal spray vaccine free to the following groups -- as long as vaccine is available. The Health Department is currently out of H1N1 injectable vaccine.

The H1N1 FluMist nasal vaccine is only offered to those ages 2 – 49 years of age, without underlying health conditions, and not pregnant.

No shortage of H1N1 vaccine is expected. However, limited quantities and types of the vaccine come in with each shipment. Health officials will expand access to the H1N1 injectable vaccine in the coming weeks and months to every Metro Nashville Public School and at community flu shot clinics.
